You know...I once worked a call where a guy was smoking while filling up his gas tank and the vapors ignited and he had pretty nasty flash and inhalation burns.
But wait, you say. The flash point of gasoline vapors is higher than the temperature of a burning cigarette. His cigarette should not have ignited those gasoline vapors.
Yes, I agree. That is what the MSDS charts say. However, the man who was recently on fire might dispute this fact.
The thing is...gassing up your car while smoking a cigarette is impressively stupid.
When you know that 80% of all motorcycle fatalities are the result of head injuries, wearing a helmet is right up there with not smoking when you gas up.
Just something to consider (but I know no one will).
