Here's a thought. Every argument you can come up with in favour of riding with all the gear can equally be applied to driving a car and fastening your seat belt instead of riding a bike. We assume a certain degree of risk because we like to ride. If some wish to assume slightly more risk for a more enjoyable ride then that is their choice. I just like to make sure it is an informed choice.

Just thought I'd help a bit by adding that qualifier in bold up there, Jim!

Ya see, I kinda figure I'm "assuming a little less risk" of injury whenever I fasten MY seat belt whenever I'm cagin' it, 'cause ya see, I "choose" NOT to be potentially thrown around inside my cage, or worse YET, thrown out from my cage if the worst happens out there on the road.

(...and trust me, the worst DOES occasionaly happen out there on the road, as you may know!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
