Here's a thought. Every argument you can come up with in favour of riding with all the gear can equally be applied to driving a car instead of riding a bike. We assume a certain degree of risk because we like to ride. If some wish to assume slightly more risk for a more enjoyable ride then that is their choice. I just like to make sure it is an informed choice.
