I always think that everyone's entitled to their own opinion,but if it doesn't agree with mine,then they're wrong. 
That's just slightly different from my way of looking at it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, no matter how stupid it is.
Tolerance is simply allowing others to live in accordance with their own stupid beliefs as long as it doesn’t affect me and I’m not expected to pay for it or endorse it. I get my back up when I’m expected to champion someone else’s nonsensical opinions or beliefs and punished if I do not, or I’m expected to pay the direct or indirect cost of some other bozo’s decisions or lifestyle.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
