Good job, please be careful not to grab a big handful of lever.

Check the 2012 CBR250 with ABS. I saw from the pics in a bike mag that it is a 3-piston caliper.

manage to ride today fist time since caliper is on ,with new caliper and new pads I made about 50 miles trip with plenty of braking ...can say that is more responcive than stock and less pressure needed on lever

Where did you get the longer speedo cable? Do you need specific pads for the caliper or are they the same fit as the Triumph?

done some research and found a company that makes custom speedo and throttle cables(if needed) this caliper is different and pads too I'm using FA388HH EBC and after about 500 miles with this set up can say that it was worth every penny

Thanks Grz...
I am looking for the 3-pot left side caliper. Anyone know if they were put on CBRs in Australia? Demand for this mod seems to be driving the second hand price up in the UK and EU. I may have to go to the Berringer 4 pot just because of availability issues.

That's because I got it! I thought I better be quick. I think many guys from Triumphrat are looking for these. It looked the same as yours even though the build year was 2009. The colour may not need painting. Hopefully it is in good condition.

My black 3-pot Nissin caliper (all the way from the Netherlands) is now fitted and works great. Just finishing bedding in and it feels like a huge improvement over stock. My stock speedo cable fits perfectly because I have 1" spacers on the speedo which lower it by that much. So a very easy direct bolt on. The bonus in getting the twin front Honda calipers is that I got two sets of near new Nissin pads with it (saving me about $80) plus I have spare components from the right caliper if I ever need them. I am very happy with this mod. I imagine it makes the America braking nearly as good as the Speedmaster (guessing because I haven't ridden a Speedy). Thanks for your help Grz.

Fitted one of Grzegor's calliper conversions. Bloody great on the America. Need something for the rear calliper now, it's crap

I saw your Nissin caliper on your bike in your photos. Nice. Did you paint it or did you also manage to find the rare black ones? Quote:

Personally I don't want to upgrade the rear because it would be more likely to lock up. In an enthusiastic stop I think I would tend to use more rear brake than the recommended 20-30% rear and 70-80% front. Probably more like 50-50% in panic mode. So I figure the softer rear will help compensate. I don't use sintered pads in the rear for the same reason. Organic pads aren't as effective especially in the wet and that's where I especially don't want the rear locking up. Of course this rationale doesn't apply for riders who keep cool under pressure and properly control their braking.

I think you have to look at the additional power up front. As you ratchet the front end down with more power your weight is transferred forward. The bigger caliper on the front will make the rear be lighter faster. With less sprung and unsprung weight on the rear the odds of locking the rear wheel will increase anyhow when the coefficient of friction is reduced due to less contact on the roadway.
Additionally the rake of our bikes prevent a stoppie so the weight of the bike is transferred from the rear forward in the form of momentum. With the stronger caliper it could be possible to stop the front wheel from spinning. That could be a really bad thing.
I guess I am just saying to please be careful when messing with the physical principles of braking. The engineers did the brakes as a total package for the weight, sprung and unsprung, momentum, rake, and tire configuration.
I am also thinking that a braided line would be a must on this caliper like in one of the pics.
Now you have my SWAG method of looking at it. SWAG= Scientific Wild Assed Guess.

I agree that the rear will get lighter faster. Hence my rationale for not upgrading the rear and staying with organic pads on the rear. But I question whether the 3-piston caliper on an America would be more effective than a Speedy with 2 x 2-piston calipers and rotors. So I suspect I am still within the engineered boundaries for our bikes. But I've been wrong before (as recently as yesterday in another thread ). BTW our stock brakelines are braided. The practical application is for me to practice getting used to moderating my new-found stop-ability so as not to lock-up the front . It doesn't feel very snatchy and still has a progressive application - just firmer and stronger than stock. But I haven't tried emergency stops yet.

Got my new caliper last night, as soon as I get it painted up and grab some pads for it, it's going on. Also gonna get a floating rotor from the fast one. Excited!

My front brakes have been so soft the past few years that it's going to be like riding one of those new America's! Can't recall the last time my front brake fluid was even flushed... maybe in '08

Did you lock up in a panic, on gravel, in the wet or under normal conditions? When I upgraded to a 6pot Beringer I also had to upgrade my master cylinder. The R3 was the same (visually) as OEM but had a larger hole. I wonder if these 3 pots require less or more fluid that our OEMs?

I'm guessing more fluid as that has always been the case every time I have been assigned to add hydraulic capacity or an additional cylinder to the odd machine. Big, Med., Small, Tiny or Miniscule, the rules of Fluid Dynamics remain the same.

Your ABSOLUTELY correct!
There was a good article on sizing the bore of a master cylinder to the size (and number of pistons) of the caliper(s) used in last months THBC. Bore size WILL affect the lever pull/pressure and the hard/soft braking feel, and needs to be matched for optimum braking.

The Horse Back Street Choppers.
But, I just flipped through the last year of issues, and couldn't find the artical.
In a nut shell, they say whether you use a 9/16", 5/8", or other master cylinder bore is directly related to the size and number of pistons in your caliper(s).

It was normal conditions, so it was panic, but not a huge death grip either, just more than usual.
The master cylinder is stock and has ample capacity. Remember that Speedys run two twin pots off that master cylinder and I'm only running three on my America.

Thought I would resurrect this old thread. Grzegorz, you still around?
Can anyone supply the Nissin part # needed for the three pot caliper upgrade? I've read the Nissin from a 06-09 CBF1000 fits but wondered if anyone has the part numbers from their upgrade? Needs to be compatible with the 2003 America which is a non non ABS bike. Does it matter if the Nissin is an ABS caliper?
After more research I found these two Nissin numbers. 45100 and 45150. Anyone know if either of these are correct?

I have an internet acquaintance I've traded parts with who incidentally lives in Austria and he swears a 2011-2019 Honda Hornet CBR600F front caliper is a plug and play brake upgrade for our bikes. That's a dual disc setup so one for an America and both for a Speedy. As I haven't actually tried this, do your research before you commit your money.
