I was extremely saddened to hear about the loss of Friar John. Though I never met him I always knew I could count on him to chime in and lend a helping hand to all persons on the forum. I spent the last few hours going through some of his old comments on posts I’ve had and I truly can’t believe that he’s gone. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

I was hesitant to post what I’m about to post, but because it infuriates me so, I cannot sit idly by and watch others exploit the loss of our friend John. There are, within the area of John’s tragic accident, a few attorneys that are attempting to gain some business advantage by using John’s accident to their advantage. How?....I’ll let you click on the links below. I for one have begun emailing and sending comments to the two legal entities that have done this and, as politely as I can, demanded they take down their vile, ambulance chasing advertisements. Maybe, if it strikes you as it’s struck me, you’ll do the same.

Just wrote a very professional, yet stern comment about my feelings on using John for advertising purposes.
Thanks for pointing this out and I did what I can do. We all need to comment to this butthead for using John's death as a money maker.

What I don't get , is why Johns crash? There is no other clear party involved. I too sent a message, shouldn't use anyones demise for personal gain unless you are in the mortuary, burial ,or funeral business in some way.(coronor, etc...)

I emailed them both expressing my opinion on using the Friar as an advertising ploy. I was deeply offended by the second one mostly because of the condolences at the end of the post that were cheapened by the preceding ambulance-chansing sales pitch. The second was also filled with many grammar errors, which I also pointed out.

That's why they are called ambulance chasers.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I understand your revulsion gentlemen, especially considering our loss, but this unfortunately is what injury liability law blogs look like.

BA.com members rule and we have Triumphed in protecting our fallen brothers name... at least on the first one. I can't get the second one to open this morning.

I just received a very long email but will share a short blurb with you regarding the removal of Johns story from that site...

Z,

Thank you for your email regarding our June 6, 2012 blog article entitled "Man Killed in Orange County Motorcycle Accident". We welcome and invite comments and I appreciate you taking the time to write to express your opinion. I assume John Bedard is related to you or was a dear friend.

The blog post has been removed. Once or twice a year I will get a request like yours out of 3000 blog posts. Never have we received multiple requests like we have on the article about John. John must have been a very well thought of person. What a tragedy.

This is his cousin, not sure what you are referring to but if this includes the percival patch maybe a scholarship fund could be established from it for children of riders who lose their parents in accidents. Not that John had any kids, but I agree using his passing in order to make money is not right.

I saw these blogs the other night while searching for any information that could possibly shed light on what actually happened. I found it upsetting, but probably only because Friar was one of our own. I usually speak my mind loudly in situations like these, but on Wednesday I just didn't have the proper "professional" words.

I am VERY GLAD that you good people took action and that it has been taken down.

Thank you!

No, there are a couple accident attorney websites that have reposted the article from the Orange County newspaper in order to try to get more accident/injury business.

+1 Sounds like a wonderful idea if you ask me. Exploiting anyone in circumstances such as this really borders on insult to the family, and is in abeyance of all moral and ethical character!

Moral and ethical character? They are lawyers! Lawyers with moral and ethical character are the ones you find every afternoon sitting in a bar drowning their guilt.

I didn't save the message and I wished I would have now. It basically said:

I am writing to state that I am highly insulted that you have used the tragic death of John and his fatal accident for the personal gain of your business. I find it insensitive to the family and friends of John, such as myself, who see/find this use of his death for advertising purposes. I am asking that you please not use this tragedy in this undignified manner. Thank you.

Or something like that...this just doesn't have the 'mad' in it.

I just saw this. Good job Chris and everyone for getting them to remove it from their website. Personal Injury lawyers have got to be the worst.

The first site remove any mention of John and should be commended for that, all it says is there was an accident. The 2nd link hasn't changed.

I tried to send a thank you to the first site since they pulled it so quickly with no argument but get an error. They did the right thing and I think that should be re-enforced.

Well come on folks, let's keep on this second company. Send a copy of what I wrote above to save time. It only takes a second.

Done: well, I re-worded the same sentiments, as sometimes the less obviously orchestrated opposition can have a greater effect.

Lawyers with moral and ethical character are readily identifiable. They are wearing off-the-rack suits and driving older cars, cause the prosecutor's office doesn't pay as well as private practice.

Actually, most lawyers don't actually make the kind of money we imagine, that's why so many go to work for the government. Also, prosecutors and gov lawyers are probably the most abusive of the law and you can't sue them because of sovereign immunity (well if you can find a lawyer to sue a lawyer). In many parts of the country many prosecutors can also have a private civil practice on the side as long as there is no conflict with gov entities.
The real lawyer money is in lobbying, politics, the huge class action suits or medical malpractice. Lawyers are like cops, they're great when you really need one.
