Hi there. I just installed the ISO Grips onto my bike today and no issues with the fit or the throttle cables. My question is the wiggle on the throttle grip. Is this normal. On the throttle side, there is a gap between the grip end and the cable housing. It seems to have slotted into the cable housing correctly yet there is about 1/8th inch gap between the end off the grip and the housing. The grip will slide in to be flush or out have the gap. Is this just normal?
There is also a little wiggle in the grip on the bar. The model grip I have is the 6236. I removed the end cap to put on the throttle boss and noticed the inside of the grip is not flush on the bar. Is that normal too? I have never used ISO grips before so just wondering if install error or just normal. Thanks

Adam, I have the same grips on my 07 BA & it seems to me that the 1/8th inch gap twixt the grip & cable housing is normal as mine is the same way. As far as the "wiggle" goes, seems to me that is just the slack in the cables. Have you adjusted the advance/decel cables correctly? There should be 2-3mm (0.0787 or [3/32nds] to 0.1181 or [1/8th"] inches) of freeplay on the throttle grip itself.

there is the very slightest wiggle perpendicular to the centerline of the handlebars (in any direction) on my ISO's too, but that's okay as it needs to clear the bar to allow the grip to pull/push the throttle cables on advance/decel.

I was wondering how your carb tuning runs? I have the stock mains & pilots, w/AI removed, the polaris bellmouth & K&N in the stock airbox too, and haven't messed at all with the idle settings so far. I know I am running a bit lean, but it doesn't seem to effect accel at any rpm.

Me too... don't even notice it anymore. Z has it worked out though. We discussed it once. Maybe he'll chime with some insight.

Thanks guys. I will live with the wiggle. Rode for about 3 hours today with them and it is not an issue when riding. All is well.

When I changed out to the Chevy pipes and K&N, I did take the bike to the dealership to re-jet. They did not do a dyno but use a CO2 meter or something to get the air mixture right. I looked at my plugs this spring and they seem to be fine (not too lean or rich). She runs well and pulls strongly. It takes a bit of time to warm up, running the choke at 1/2 for a good 5 minutes or so or she will die out. I am going to convert to pods later this summer and will have to re-jet again - using Dinqua's calculator.

I did not like that wiggle in the throttle grip. The clearance between the
Bar diameter and the grip is too much. I used a .020 thick piece of plastic
Shim stock to make up the difference. It has worked pretty well for the 7 years.

#1 I used a piece of brass shim stock, long time ago, but I think it was .015 thou. No problems with slop since.

I like to do the ISO Grip Wiggle down at the VFW club on Tuesday nights.

A few more good suggestions. I will look in to the shim idea. Do you cut the shim to go all the way around the bar like a sleeve? For now I will be down at the VFW.
