We did that in high school on a local lake, used sheet metal screws in the knobbys. Didn't use BMWs though.

I don't know Keith, I grew up about 2 hours southeast of fasteddy country and remember folks having winter lake and pond races using spike wheels on dirt bikes. I always figured the leader had plenty of motivation to stay upright.  You already have the bike, go for it  jh

Some of the young fella's at my bike shop do that in the winter on ponds. They sheet metal screw the tires on one side, then race in a big circle in one direction. They tried to get me to do it but I just don't like the cold winter sports, even on a bike.

I'm thinking more of a snow experience than ice riding. Ski on the front, snow track on the back. Looks like a lot of fun and unlike a snowmobile, you get to lean into the corners. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DuKTwPTpoas&feature=related

Looks alot like the Ski Bob I used to ride downhill on. Motor and track look like fun and you get to see what is over the ridge as opposed to just the valley.

Some Aussies Keith! Where I am it's been "light the fire" use the heaters weather.Rain,frost,windy,and down to -2 Deg.Celcius.
