After not feeling much love from the local-ish dealers near me, I made a call to Baxter Cycle in Marne Iowa to find a pickup coil for my Speedy. After being told a couple times from other places that the part was on backorder and would not be in the states until after May 30, I decided to call other dealers to see if anyone had the part in stock. I called Baxter on someone here's recommendation from way back. Couldn't be happier with the service. They told me the part was indeed available from Triumph (3 dealers that morning told me backordered), and would have it to their place on Monday and would ship it out. Part arrived on my doorstep Wednesday mid-day. Good guys to deal with all around, they've got my dealer only business for sure (Fast Eddy still rocks for everything else!!) Consider this a positive dealer experience!!

I haven't ever done any business with Baxter Cycle, Mike, but from I could always sense, they're pretty much known nationwide was a Triumph dealer with their heart and soul into the britbike scene, and as I recall are one of few modern Triumph dealerships that also specializes in the restoration and sales of old Meriden-built Triumphs, among a few other of the older British brands.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Seems that the best dealers are the ones who dealt the old Triumphs and then sold those parts and did repairs and now deal in the new breed of Triumph. Hermys is another of that kind of dealer.

Hey! It's Baxter!
FYI, when most dealers tell you a part is back ordered, it means they don't have it in stock. It doesn't mean the part isn't sitting in a Triumph warehouse here in the states. The good dealers have shipments coming from Triumph at least 2 or 3 times a week. Baxter is like that, Engles is like that, 9 out of 10 times they will have the most insignificant part in stock, If not they'll get it for you in 3 days.

Dog, you are right, Hermys, Baxter and Engles were Triumph dealers in "good old day".

Baxter's is "old school". They grew up in a time when people cared for their business and the customer was important. They ride bikes and believe in their product. I've always been treated well there and never had a problem with parts or shipping.

Anyone that ever travels across Iowa and loves Brit iron has to stop by Baxters, it will be woody time, you'll pitch yourself and mumble...Iowa?

I sort of had an inside line to Randy Baxter. My buddy used to rent a place from him years ago. Baxter's is the only dealer I have tried to order OE Triumph parts from, because of this. Randy and crew are top notch, good guys. I have at least two dealers closer to me, but I still go back to Randy for the goods.
