The Spurs won the season series against the Thunder. It will be a great series and hopefully not all the games will be played at 9:30 CST. The West finals will be tight and I sure hope the Spurs win but the Thunder has a great team. I predict that the West finals IS the NBA finals.

So George, it sounds as if you think Lebron will be denied a ring for yet another year here then, eh?! Gotta say, if the Heat DO make it to the finals, This Laker fan here(since the playing days of Jerry West) will definitely be routin' for whoever wins the Western Conference...which I hope the Spurs do, as I've always thought Popovich and that whole organization was a class act.

Thanks for the kinds words. The Heat are no a cohesive team. They have the two best players (arguably) in the world but the supporting cast isn't there. I think team always wins. Did you watch what the OKC team did to your Lakers? Lakers talent is better than the Heat talent (arguably) and the team ball OKC played made their team shine. Bryant looked sad in the last playoff game trying to drop a zillion points by himself as Gasol looked inept and Bynum looked, well, at sea (very very cluelessly lost). I think that next year the Lakers will be exploded and they will try and rebuild around Bryant and ONE of the two bigs. I am not up on contracts but if I owned Bynum's contract I would try and get SOMETHING for him as he is a loser mentally.

A lot of good points there, George. Yep, I watched the game last night, and besides the fact that the Thunder DID play a lot better team ball than did the Lakers(though THAT'S not shocking, of course, when ya have Kobe on your "team"...though in his defense, he really HAS been the ONLY guy since Jordan who could pretty much win a championship all by himself...but I digress), but the Thunder is a lot YOUNGER of a team on average than are the Lakers now too....or at least with the way the Thunder out hustled and moved quicker than the Lakers, they SEEMED "younger" anyway.

I think the Lakers issues come from character and not age. The 2nd tier players seem over-awed and not engaged. Kobe is engaged but what about Bynum and Gasol? Bynum is a head case at best; all the talent in the world and sometimes he looks like he is somewhere else. Gasol is fragile and doesn't want the center stage. The Lakers have been a prime time force for a long time and they ALWAYS did it with a couple of engaged super stars plus a fully engaged 2nd tier cast. WHY THE HECK DID THEY GET RID OF ODOM? Mystery of the NBA season. And Odom certainly wasn't professional when he got traded but acted like a spoiled Kardashian hehe

All good points again, George. However, I think you forgot you mention their trading away for the second time again the one mature head in the bunch of 'em, and a guy who had become as close to a "Mr. Clutch" as any Laker since Jerry West...Derek Fisher. While he's certainly lost a step the last few years and has had trouble guarding younger and quicker guards, his steadying influence on the team was always been a major factor in their success in the playoffs.
(...and I've always thought he'd make a great head coach once he retires playing)
