I'm in charge of a fleet of Fords, (over 400 vehicles), and I've got to say that the entire fleet is amazing to me. That's little consolation to the guy who only owns one and gets a lemon, (we've had a few), but for the most part I can say that Ford builds as good a vehicle for the money as anyone out there.
We regularly get 300,000 miles out of a pick up without changing a motor or transmission and have 1 right now at 490,000 miles on the origional engine, (new camshafts, followers, and pretensioners). It just got a transmission because the case had become porous from all to salt we use on our roads in the winter. I have 200 Crown Vic. state police cruisers in my fleet that get thrashed like no other vehicle on the road and rarely need anything other than regular maintenance.
My mechanics are all huge Ford fans and are thankful that our vehicles stand up so well. Anyway, that's been my experience.
