I agree, it shouldn't cost me 60 grand to get a work truck... I have the window sticker from my truck even though I bought it used, it's a regular cab, nothing out of the ordinary except 4 wheel drive and being a 1 ton,and it was 31 thousand. It's ridiculous to pay that kind of money for a tool.
Don't blame domestic car manufactures for the rise in prices over the decades, they don't print money.
It's not that at all, I can go buy a new Nissan Versa for under 12 grand, but since a truck is sort of a requirement for a lot of people in my profession, it's like they intentionally jack up the prices because we don't have a lot of options. There are what, 5 full size trucks to choose from? That's counting the Tundra and Titan.
The price of a Datsun, Nissan, truck was what in 1970 and what is it now? You are correct concerning the market for trucks and vans, especially used when the economy is well. And especially since the general public's acceptance of trucks as normal consumer vehicles in the 80s.
Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.
