I got a question, what were those coffee makers that my parents use in the 50s and 60s that looked like two glass globes stacked. (and no it wasn't a bong)
Like one of these maybe?
or...
These employ a vacuum system started in Germany in the 1830s. They were around in the 50s and 60s although the glass percolator was much more popular back then as I recall.

Speakin' of "coffee pots"...have you folks ever seen the world's largest one? This is part of the view out of our newly purchased home here in Sedona, and this particular red rock monolith is called, for obvious reasons, "Coffee Pot Rock"...
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Thanks, that's it.

My visit with Moe has me so much closer to picking up a French press. Kind of ironic though. I'm part French (Um, Bedard, DUH) so no (spit) needed.

Anytime you have to pull any "quality" product from China apart , the most indispensable tool is the GUITAR PICK! get a few thin & medium to slide into those clam shell type snaps. A friend could pop open an iPod in seconds with a guitar pick!

That was a manual drip coffee maker. Grounds in the top, pour in hot (off boil) water, coffee in bottom.
