the sissy bar combined with my saddlebags gives me loads of room and i have taken the bike on multi-week trips with it from minnesota as far west as northern montana. if you want to use the sissy bar bracket and throw-over style saddle bags you have to lengthen the rear seat bracket (super simple mod) a little bit to account for the added material between the seat and the fender as well as use a slightly longer bolt.
