Cutting out at wide open throttle. I can cruise up to any rpm but if I crack the throttle at 4500 or higher in any gear the bike starts to stumble, almost like a pre rev limiter feel.
She starts great, idles good ( a bit off cadence here and there at idle) pulls strong through all gears and generally runs strong.
I was thinking maybe some trash in the bowls sucking into the jet at hard acceleration. I went completely through the fuel system. Tore down the carbs, float level, etc all looks good. Drained the tank, freh gas, removed the pingle and found nothing other than a little grunge around the petcock screen. I do not have the little hidden fuel screen, removed that sucker years ago. Clean air filter. Vac caps are all new.
The pickup coil setting (0.8mm) was checked last year, reading on meter currently seems good. No recent changes, jetting changes, et.
I've tried swapping the following only to find the same results. Coils, plugs, plug wires, cdi. All connectors are good and tight. Good ground. One thing I noticed over the years I seem to find myself adjusting the the idle alot, she's alwawys liked to idle around 1150-1200 but it seems to fluctuate either up or down a few 100rms over a days ride. Not sure what that is telling me.
I'm stumped and I'm sure I'm missing something but I have been very thorough chasing this gremlin over the last couple of weeks,
Any idea what I should be looking for that would cause the stumble?

I tried that as well, same results. I've tried that in the past as well and she runs like crap when unplugged.

I can't say for sure but I think I red somewhere (when I was reading up on the FCR carb tuning stuff) that in a situation like your it is running way rich at that moment when you crack the throttle. The only issues I see in the above would be that it didn't don't before this season.
Didn't someone here recently have a similar issue... Cleaned the plugs and all was well, again! How do your plugs look?

Dynajet 128's,Dyna springs and needles. 45 Kelhian 2-1/2 truns. Uni filter and snorkel.TOR pipes. This is an 03 America. I have this same identical set up on an 04 Speedy, except the Speedy does not have the snorkel. I got to thinking about that last night. Could the snorkel be the culprit even though it's been in place for some time?

It's easy enough to check. Try it and let us know. This seems to be the season for crb issues... I don't think I have ever seen so many posts so close together at any time since I have been on here. Anyway...
What happens if you just roll on from 4500 instead of cracking it?

No problem. I can cruise right up to 5000-6000 and she seems ok @ any rpm you just cannot crack it. I checked float levels with a clear tube attached to the bowl drain. Levels are slightly higher than the top of the bowl? Raining like hell here this morning

Check your diaphrams on the top of your slides for pin holes

pulled the tops off again, Inspected the diaphragms. Look to be in excellent condition, and as we know those suckers can be a rascal to get back into place. Left side was a pill. Anywho what I did see was quite a bit of carbon deposits on the carb body and the slide. Cleaned all that up nice and purdy with some carb cleaner and removed the snorkel as mentioned earlier. Still pissing rain so it may be a while before another test ride, fingers crossed, again

Welp ! Finally caught a break in the clouds this afternoon here in rainy East Tennessee. Took the moody red head out and blasted up and down the Interstate a couple runs. Woohoo, I think I finally got it. She ran like a scalded dog! I suppose it was carbon build up on the slides or the snorkel or a combination of both, anyway I'm happy, she's happy and I'm heading to Georgia Wednesday with my redhead Thanks to all for the advice.

Another solution to add to the knowledge base. Now put the snorkel back in so we know it was the carbon

That carbon sounds more like a symptom of a problem, rather than a fix?
