thanks john. Has the fairing changed? it definitely looks like an RT in that shot.

Wow, is that a lot bigger than the old Trophy?

Yeah Bill, I think it has. I think it looks a little more smoothed-out and slightly less boxy and angular than did the one in the earlier spy photo of a few months back.

Of course early on they always disguise prototypes with a whole lot of cardboard strips and tape, so who knows, the bike we see here now might've looked very similar to the earlier one underneath all that stuff.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I kinda like it but the side bags and top box are a little, eh...

I don't know guys... I think the older Hinckley Trophys like the one shown below were pretty nice looking. They were big on power too and handled great so this new one has a pretty hard act to follow.

Keith, that's a great pic of one. They are beautiful in person, IMO.

I just sold my '97 BRG Trophy 900 a couple of months ago. Hated to see her go, the older I got the more top heavy it was getting. Besides, it made room for the T-Bird.

Yeah, can't you just hear the RD supervisor after he found out the picture was leaked. "You were parked where? Behind McDonald's??!! Okay you're now assigned to test the new pre-production Triumph 125 cc scooter."

The article said it won't hit showrooms until late 2012. This thing has been pre-production forever. And that topbox is pretty hideous.

Well, I guess I was a bit too short for that bike. And there was no adjustment on the handlebars which I could have used to make it work for me. Overall the bike just felt too tall.

The bags are the same but the fairing has definitely changed a bit - seems marginally less fugly to me but then i like the RT.

Cool! Can't wait to see one. This or the BMW R1200RT will be the next bike.

Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

Both bikes are exactly the same. I believe you found a better picture, good sleuthing ( is that a word?).

Well except for top box and antenna.

I have ceased to believe that it is ever coming. When I get the announcement from Triumph in my inbox, I will start pestering my dealer, once I swing a leg over one I may begin polishing up trades, but until then I will not be holding my breath... much.

Thom I might be wrong, I sometimes am.

Oh it's coming. After following the pre-production/ production of the R-III and Thunderbird 1600, I've learned Triumph marches to their own time line. If they are expecting an introduction in October at the bike show in Cologne and in dealers by Nov. Dec. of this year , I would not be surprised if they are very close to starting up the production line. The end of the year is only 6 months away.Only...

I have one just like that, in the same condition even, out in my garage next to the Speedmaster. I think i will stay with the older style, looks nicer and still looks current with the styling.
There is also a 900cc version of the same bike like mine for sale just up the road. Funny thing is that he wants more then I paid for my 1200 3 years ago with twice the mileage as mine. There are some good deals out there on them to be had, you just have to keep searching.
