The Wiseco piston kit appears to be two pistons, rings, pins and wire clips and a gasket kit. $799 MSRP. If you price pieces in the kit individually the total is less than $600. What am I missing? The description of the kit doesn't mention liners. What gives? For folks who have installed the 904cc kit, have you done before/after dyno runs? As a newb, what octane gas is recommended for the stock engine and what must be used with the 10.5:1 Wiseco kitted engine? Do you have to retard the ignition timing to keep it from pinging?

the 904 kit has liners (ductile iron, I believe). to use the kit you have to bore out the stock cylinders and shrink in the new liners and then bore and hone them to size.

with the 10.5:1 piston you should have no problems with ping or knock on 89 or better gas.

I take it that the stock liners are not thick enough to be bored to accomodate the larger pistons if new liners are needed. Are these liners included in the Wiseco kit? What octane gas does the stock bike use?

there are no liners in the stock cylinder. and yes they can be bored out a replated with nikasil. there are several vendor that can do that work.

This is an alternative.

This is a step up from the Wiseco BB. They don't use Wiseco pistons (long story) and their kit is 11.5:1.

Wish there were someone in the San Antonio area who had the Wiseco kit or some other more cost effective hop up installed where I could check out their bike. There are few Triumphs in the area I think.

FWIW... the TPUSA HC kit is quite impressive (HC kit here) . Its cams and high compression pistons. Add the igniter to it and you can get as much as 73Hp/50Tq ( TTP Dyno with HC kit ).

Those numbers are comparable to what most folks do with their 904 BB kits (with the exception of the ones that did head work, carbs, cams, etc...).
