Pretty cool lookin' Cafe Racer alright, Jeremy. However, I JUST can't get into these "no rear fender at all" kinda looks, and so besides the fact that it's only an 883, and those are somewhat anemic, power-wise...I'll have to take a pass on this "almost beautiful" H-D.

(...'cause like I said, I think motorcycles should always have a rear freakin' fender...EVEN if it's bobbed down to next to nothin'!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

A little bit more rear guard would be nice.

if the 48 was around when I bought my bike I would probably be riding a 48

Possibly me too.

But, admittedly, when I decided I would like an America was when I was searching through a Buyers Guide with all (mostly) brands/models available, and at the time, cost (with in reason) wasn't a factor. It was hands down the number one choice, along with a few 1200's from the "Dark Side"

Two days after failing to secure a Dyno Glide in Daytona for $9,300., the dealer called me with a bike he thought I might be interested in. Two days after that, the America was mine (for 5,200), and I NEVER regretted the decision.

(Though I'll NEVER rant about it's "Reliability" (electrical) , like others here will.)
(I CAN rant about the reliability of my Suzuki and Yamaha's, but I'll save that for another day)

And you may see me tonight With an illegal smile J. Prine

I questioned a Triumph dealer about some of the Triumphs having electrical problems, coils etc.
I said that I thought The Lucas a.k.a."prince of darkness" days were done.

He said Triumph did this to honour the memory of Lucas
But it's NOT funny if you have electical problems!

So would a Hinckley twin.

That's true.
A 1,000cc Bonnie engine like they should have made.

From your lips to Mr. Bloor's ear, Paul ol' boy!

In other words, I couldn't have agreed more with ya here!

(...and so it's a shame Mr. Bloor and his boys always seemed a mite deaf in this regard, isn't it?!)

That's right Dwight.IMO,When they went up from 790cc they should have gone to 950-1,000cc, but kept the same "Triumph" look of the engine as opposed to the T-bird

Exactly, OR at the very least offered like ya said a 950-1000cc factory option, JUST like they did from the very beginning of the T-Bird's introduction, and when you could purchase a 1700cc version of it instead of the 1600cc version...the "logic" of which to this day STILL escapes me!!!

Ah, but I think we've sidetracked this thread about an ALMOST nice lookin' Sportster(I STILL say it needs a freakin' rear fender) enough, eh?!

(...but THIS sidetracking I believe we can blame on our illustrious Administrator, the good Friar...'cause HE started it all with that whole "this H-D needs a Hinckley Twin in it", DIDN'T he!!!)

A Hinckley twin would look good in that.

A T-bird twin motor might look ok.
