I know this may be out there in left feild, but has anyone here ever attached a sidecar? One of my neighbors is an older man who can't drive anymore because of eyesight and works relitivly close to me. He was catching a ride with a fellow coworker that recently passed away. Now he has to rely on family members and other coworkes who live further away and now has to work longer hours because of this. My schedule would allow me ample time to drive him to work and pick him up as well. But even as kind hearted as I may be occasionly I'm not letting any dude ride B!TCH. I would want one that would be like a quick disconnect and not look totally gay. I know this is but this guy is kinda like an older brother/ father figure.

Yes, but I can't remember the screen name. I think it was done by Texas Sidecars, though, and that's an excellent place to start.

How about something like this? I figure when I'm too old to ride on two wheels, this is what I'll do with my America.

You have to reconfigure the fork s rake, to get a sidecar to function properly. Looks to be an $$ expensive proposition. Here in Wa St. I believe it even takes a special licence endorsement and a mandatory class as well.

The are special triple trees to kick out the rake with out much fuss. A set of Earls forks is another thing altogether but much nicer for a dedicated rig. The use really dictates the setup and eventually the cost.

I had a California side car on Yamaha Venture a long time ago with no special tires, trees, or stabilizers and it was okay but never felt dialed in. The hack was easy to disconnect so I rode it a lot solo, too, and now I realize that was because it wasn't dialed in I was able to solo with it. Plenty good for commuting and grocery runs, though, so if that's your aim don't be discouraged.

Ed, that's kinda the idea I had in mind. Attach the side car to drive old dude back and forth to work, disconnect when ever I please and solo ride as much as time and wife will allow. It doesn't need or do I want it dailed in, just and accessory, not part of the machine. (so to speak)

Cheapest I've ever seen is about $3500, that fiberglass or the one Royal Enfield sells. A Watsonian cost more than a new America. Most systems are detachable and there is no permanent mods to your frame or trees. It's mostly frame clamps and braces with turn buckles and pins.

Complete motorcycle to sidecar mouning kit for Triumph's Bonneville America.

I have a Velorex for my BMW but with only 24HP at 5600 RPM I never put it on. Side car set up in counter intuitive and feels strange. The bike is leaned away from the car and toed in some.Earls front end on the BMW that has 2 positions for the swingarm allowing it to be changed for use with a car and back without. Plug under the seat for the light too. Pretty cool set up.

Thanks for all you help guys, I actually seen a few I really liked. I mentioned it to the wife and she didn't seem to mind either, however I didn't tell her a price. But When I said something to my neighbor about it, he was, "HELLS NAW, I know how fast you drive and you aint getting my in one of them things" so... I guess this was a busted endevor, well for now at least. Might have to build my own with a BBQ grill and a keg.
