I would say 8:30/9 would be the second best time to arrive. That way you'd most likely be able to catch people going for breakfast rides or setting out for the day.
The best thing, of course, would be to book a room! :-) That way you don't miss out on anything and can stay for the dinner on Saturday as well as the social activities.
