A recent trip underscored the need to carry tools. Recommend a tool bag or kit please? I like the idea of a fork mounted one like below, but am open to any good ideas. If you have one you like, post a photo maybe? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALL-AMERICAN-RID...=item3f157e0d4c

I got one of the CruzTools kits. Think from newbonneville.com but I'm sure similar kits are at most internet motorcycle stores. I removed a few unneeded bits and added others. Imagine you could likely find most tools at a pawn shop and roll them in a towel for basic needs. Keep it in the tail bag on my shortened cargo rack.

If you're inclined to store tools in a saddle bag, these zipper pouches are handy. A 3 pack costs $12 at Staples.

Lower TT mounted bags need to be shallow enough where they won't touch the fender on fork compression. This one is a fender offender This one is fender friendly

Now that's a cool (fringed) tool bag Mr. Jim . Regarding what to pack I remember what the former member/administrator Phil used to list when this question came up. I always figured it be cheaper to forget the tools and just invite Phil (& his kit). Maybe buy the young man lunch now and again to keep him happy jh

Ya know there was a great thread on what tools to carry 'while on the road' a while back. I searched for it, but couldn't find it. I usually carry a 10' adjustable wrench, an assortment of screwdrivers, a 1/4"drive metric socket set, with adapters to handle the thin walled spark plug socket, metric allen wrenches, pliers, metric combination wrenches, extra plugs, latex gloves, electrical tape and a plug gapper. I put it all in a fanny pack bag I bought for 2 bucks and cut the straps off of. Around town, I just carry a cell phone.
Wish I could have found that thread. There was lots of good advice in there.

You know, I never walked up to it the couple of times I stopped. Looks like it is though.

What a cool idea. I have an extra bank bag that can be used.
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

I've got mine mounted on the frame underneath the oil cooler for this reason.
It also keeps a lot of road crud off the metalwork which is a bonus
