After 40 years of riding, I finally raced at a Dragstrip: Countyline Dragway in Dade County (eighth mile) Paid a $25 racers fee. I made 22 passes, more than anyone else today. Impressed 'em with Steelheart's reliability. My best time was an 8.33 seconds, best trap speed 79mph. But THIS was the best part of the day: I'm the one on the right. On the left...a Suzuki Hayabusa!!! I shi, er, poop you not. He blew the start, I got the Holeshot, & Yeehaa! I'm not sayin' it will ever happen again. But I beat him Straight Up. Hear the Blare of the Trumpet!!!

They have a "Bike Night" here @ the Central Florida Raceway every Thursday, and like yours, it's $25 to runwhatyabrung. I've been waiting to install the clutch springs I got from Dave, which I did last weekend. I just put a 18t on for the rally's (Dahlonega and Leesburg Bikefest), but after that, I'll put the 16t on, and give it hell. I'm SURE I'll be able to at least beat the scooters! (Well, all but one anyway)
And you may see me tonight

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

What do these bikes typically run in the 1/4 mile, with basic mods?

Cool! Sounded like a lot of fun there, Brian!
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

This is so cool. You didn't happen to get anyone to videotape it did you. I'd love to see it. Congratulations!

14s maybe high 13s. The conversion for his 8.9 would put him in about a 13.9 1/4 a very good time for our bikes.
Great gate time Brian!

Reminds me of a friend who built a gas dragster with a Ferguson tractor engine. I forget his times, but he turned mid to high 90 MPH in a quarter mile, not bad with an engine built to run 15 MPH flat out! He usually got the trophy for fastest in class (not many class GG dragsters around) and once, through a lucky series of blown tires clutches etc. he took top eliminator! He even beat an A Fuel dragster that blew a transmission coming off the line.
Let's hope there's intelligent life somewhere in space 'cause it's buggar all down here. -- Monte Python
