Well, all I can say here is that while I'm not much into most of the latest music(classic rock fan here, mostly), this article reminded me of my father saying to this 13 y/o at the time here one February Sunday night in 1964 after a certain mop-top group of British young men played their first gig on The Ed Sullivan Show: "Those kids will just be a flash-in-the-pan and you'll never hear of 'em again in a couple year's time! What was with all that 'Yeah yeah yeah' stuff anyway? Sinatra or Elvis never sang 'Yeah yeah yeah'!"

Point being, each generation has their own "thing", and only time will tell if any of these newer artists will ever become more than just "flashes-in-the-pans". AND, don't forget, it is MUCH easier nowadays to just download music off the net than it was to go to the record shops back then to purchase a record. And so, I question the "statistics" the author of this article used to make his point.

(...btw, my father did eventually come around to admit those "mop-tops" had "some" talent...he would go on to especially like "Eleanor Rigby", and for some reason, "Rocky Raccoon")

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
