Well most people made the run as intended, by now I think they will all be well ratted and fighting over the spare pillow that Paul took. The bunkhouse was very acceptable and the ones who have chosen to camp have a reasonably cosy corner of the field to bed down in and the only problem may be the abundance of cats patrolling the perimiter wall and voicing their prescence. Any mention of stabilizer wheels for an unfortunate member is with no disrespect intended. Nobby you are ok after the mishap and did you get back home from meet OK? Due to other commitments for Sunday I left as they were retiring to the BAR at 16.30 (abit early? ? ?). Very good turnout considering the weather I may have miscounted but I think it was 8 x America's, 4 x xSpeedy's( 2 were there) 1 x Scrambler(guess who) 1 x BMW GS(don't ask) 1 x SpeedFour and 1 x RS. Once we had all met at the brew shop the snake style run into the dale itself was great and turned a few heads especially in Ingleton as we burbled through the narrow streets. Weather was kind except when I left for home heavens opened,,,, drenched for two+3/4 hours and 134 miles home, Nevermind all dry now and happy to have met all andf envious of the one s who stayed. Hope the weather holds for them tommorrow. Have put some pics on my photo post.

Maybe stabiliser wheels would have saved me from making a fool of myself after sliding my front wheel out at 10mph!
Initial inspection of the bike seems to show only damage to the foot control hanger assembly, the lightbar and the gear change rod.(The last item snapped when I tried to force the gear pedal back into position, not realising that it was damage to the hanger assembly which was the problem.)
The most frustrating thing (apart from missing the meet Ooop North) was waiting for the recovery truck - the Automobile Association were totally incompetant on this occasion. Fortunately for me, Paul's wife Rachel was extremely generous in letting a complete stranger wait in her house while the fools at the AA messed me around. I will be sending her a bunch of flowers just as soon as Paul lets me know her favorites.
As for me, I was fully kitted out in leathers etc so the only injury that I got was a bump on my left elbow, a bit painful but other than that I'm okay.
Glad to hear that everyone else made it and seems to have had/is having a good time.

Hey Shaun What a p*sser!! Sorry you couldn't make it - next time 'eh? I imagine the arm is a little more painful today - often the case. Hope the bike can be repaired asap too. Yet to be decided but the general concensus is favouring Dorset or New Forest. That's obviously us lot, doesn't include any rallies in between.

Hey Greg Quote:

I got home around 1pm. It was dry so I put my tent up to dry it out. I washed the bike and decided to go for a ride on the America.
I was around 3 miles from home and the heavens opened and I got soaked!!
300-odd miles yesterday and today and no rain, I go 3 miles and get soaked (not wearing waterproofs).
Oh, and my nearly dry tent is now dripping wet again

Does that mean I'm allowed back in the dry bunkhouse next time then .. ?

Tickled me did that caravan tale though
I'll tell it in Paul's absence for those who may be curious .. On arrival at the pub/bunkhouse/campsite, we pitched at the bottom of the small field next to a disused caravan.
While pitching our tents, Paul noticed the window was not locked on the caravan. He demonstrated this by opening it and closing it again.
.. forward to later that night / early morning ..
Paul couldn't get comfortable with his camping pillows so at around 1am, he went to the caravan and realised to door was also open. He helped himself to a couple of pillows to help him out. Next morning, it dawned on him he could've taken his sleeping bag and slept in the caravan ...
It's amazing how an alcohol affected brain functions (or doesn't!!), eh?

Hey all!!!
For reasons best known to my mate... I'm at home in Bristol. (He's gone to work so I thought I may as well ride home...) Just hit the outskirts of Birmingham and the heavens opened!!! I'd ridden all the way from Bury to Stafford without stopping and since Brum I stopped at most services just to dry out a little! Even the insides of my boots are wet... Shawn (the sheep) is a little damp but he got protected from the rain.
Oh well, a nice wam bath may make me feel better. After 580 miles in 4 days...I need it! (For those reading from the other side of the pond...I know that's not far for some of you. But I still feel like a new rider and it's the furthest I've done in such a short space of time. And she didn't move on Friday...)
Gina
03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel...
06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel...
09 America - It's very blue....

Hi everybody Got back at 3 o'clock, 501 miles round trip, not bad for a warm up to the season, hit rain at Gloucester, at least it was on the final leg back, wind was a killer tho, 200 miles head on, serious arm ache. Slumped in chair at 3.15 with cuppa, woke up at 7, (must be an age thing ),was good to finely put some faces to names, hope we can get more active participation from other riders in the uk, it's certainly worth getting involved. Realy enjoyed it. Andy

Justa quick chime in to say great to meet you all and put faces to names.
I hope the food and the evening were great.
Gina- I have some great news for you but not so good for my pocket and the rest of the Rally. My videocamcorder did not record, as I suspected,- things always grow legs and run away or break when you need them most- today it broke!- so no video of the excellent ride in as Mike(BeanoGB) described.
Please count me in for the New Forest or Dorset. As Andy (stershead) said-it certainly is good to get active!
Regards
RodYork P.s. Did it rain at night where you were?

Hi Everyone
Well, what can one say! Another excellent meeting and fantastic meeting everyone, even though I retired a little early and was up all night with a Chronic Cluster Headache (CCH) I still enjoyed myself. Looking forward to the New Forest/Dorset run.
Come on you UK riders get active, you have no idea what you are missing? Oh Yes, and I still have a full pkt of Jaffa Cakes, now how did that happen?

Glad you all had a good one. Sorry I missed it, here's my excuse - on the Wales meet up in December some of you may remember that I wanted to get home quickly as I was due to take my son and some of his mates to a gig at the NEC that Sunday night. The gig was cancelled (one of the band members had a sore throat I think ) and, would you believe it, re-arranged for the 25th March (The band we went to see were Feeder, if anyone's interested. They were pretty good, but I'd rather have been in North Yorks). I'll try and get to the "Darn Sarf" (Dorset's south, isn't it?) meet, and am still looking forward to Germany.
