Just down the way there's a pretty cool dam project going on. At the site of an existing dam, they're building a tunnel to add another turbine to the dam's capabilities. Within the tunnel are special shafts to both deliver (penstock) and expel (tailrace) water for the turbine. Those water shafts consist of complex shapes to maximize efficiency.

Anyway... the wooden forms made up for the concrete for the penstock and tailrace are pretty complex and impressive. When a dam is built in these parts, there is pretty much only one guy around capable of building these forms to spec and on time. This guy, now in his 70s 'invented' the technique for making these structures and remains an expert in his field.
