so on friday i had a very bad day and i thought to myself, "self, you need some motorbike therapy. start a project."

so i set out to diagnose my inop tail light (it was a fuse), install a HID kit in the front (never got around to it), and wrap my headers and paint the pipes that look like poo since i banged the baffles out and ground off the heat shield welds.

so i pulled the headers and wrapped them and let them set over night. in the morning they were still damp so i installed them and backed the bike out to run it and let them cure, no pipes. HOLY CRAP, it sounded awesome. obnoxiously loud, like a raped hippo or something. i was highly surprised to find that my girlfriend liked it quite a bit, so we took a ride down the coast, scatological grin in tow. the performance was only minimally different from the jet setup i'd gotten from the calculator. lost just a little bit of torque. might hit up jc whitney for some short turn-downs and add a washer welded to a bolt for some backpressure, but it's seriously not bad.

long story short, it's really awesome. i will probably paint the pipes and put them back on (for the sake of the neighbors), but i'll probably be taking them off if i ever go to an event (for instance may 20, social distortion at pozo saloon).
