I was noticing that the Rocket III gauge cluster uses the exact same speedometer unit as the Speedmaster (at least for the current year models) but it pairs it with a separate tachometer mounted to the right of it. I think it is a nice look and wondered if anyone has tried to fit this configuration on the Speedmaster. It looks like some sort of bracket might need to fashioned that would fit the Speedmaster, but my real concern would be whether the electrical system would be plug and play. It looks like the wiring connections are pretty different as on the Speedmaster the tach runs a sub-harness down to the main harness and a separate run up to the Speedometer. Even if it could be hooked up would it work correctly, and would it read the right revs? Then even if it worked, there would now be a useless set of instruments on top of the tank, but that might be an opportunity to do something neat on the tank top.
So is this just a dumb idea, or something that's actually been done?
