Last years trip to SWTF... I had my Macbook the whole time... no issues.
Macs CAN get viruses but not as often as PCs and they usually go away as fast. In ym two years with my mac and all the crap I downloaded (some stuff on purpose to see if I could slow it down) and nothing.... keep on ticking.

You will have to get used to the aluminum case (it can be cold) but get a nice Incase cover for it.
