Wow what a friggin' race. Funny story, but I watched about half of the race with "tcv" Tom Vance outside of the Daytona International Speedway on a tv in the Kawasaki display. No sheet. The reason that we watched that much of the race was the incredible comeback and near win by Jason DiSalvo sporting a Gary Nixon inspired livery on his Daytona 675R. Great riding and a great bike made this memorable. I am posting a 15 minute clip of the finish here for everyone's enjoyment. Disclaimer (and I am not into disclaimers: If this has been posted already, my apologies.) Dwight, I know you will like this. 2012 Daytona 200

Great post! Thanks!

I thought a longer clip would do better justice to the job DiSalvo and his team did in catching the leaders. I know the announcers mentioned his fantastic fuel mileage, but they didn't mention what Jason admitted after the race. He ran 40 plus laps on the same tyres. So while he was inches away from the other riders on that last lap, he was on 40 lap old rubber. Trumps handle pretty well, eh? One more lap and he would have taken first, but still an awesome day for Triumph.

It was an incredible race. I was still excited several hours after it finished. While watching the race at the Kawasaki display (just outside of the speedway) there were a number of people there, and all of them were cheering on #9. With 12 laps to go and just over 12 seconds behind Jason almost pulled it off.

Ryan, you were right. I DID greatly enjoy watchin' that! Thanks for posting this! (...and what a beautiful tribute to the memory of the great Gary Nixon, that 675R, Jason DiSalvo and the whole Team Latus Motors were indeed!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
