Yesterday the rubber bumper for the center stand and my eBay Speedy dash with tachometer both arrived, so I finished installing the repainted center stand (stop pins ground to give it a 15 degree forward stance), and I swapped the America dash for the Speedy and put the headlight modulator sensor in the left dash hole. The Speedy tach was plug-and-play on the America - just plug in the big connector and it was online.
The only down side was finding a broken weld on the left exhaust heat shield, and the fact that we had a dinner to go to that precluded a test ride in beautiful 65 degree weather when I got finished. Of course it's raining today, but Spring is in the air with more ride opportunities to come soon.

Pics of the sensor install - sensor in clipped off plastic screw anchor.

Sensor in place in dash.

All back together and ready to go.

What does the sensor do?

Nice. I put the Speedy tack on my '09 America last month...so easy and it looks great. Thinking of putting in a switch for LED "effects" lights in the blank to the left....what exactly _does_ that sensor do?

It's a sensor- It's supposed to keep the High Beam Indicator Light in the proper position in the dash.

Seems it isn't working yet.

The sensor enables the high beam modulator in daylight and makes the high beam remain steady at night when not enough light hits the sensor.

Sorry for the late reply; I hadn't checked this thread for awhile. The tach in that link looks the same, although mine came with a complete speedmaster console from eBay for $130. Check the classifieds - I saw after the fact that several OEM tachs had been sold there for $75.
