Saw pics of this bike in St Louis on Craigslist. description says factory flag tank. Pretty cool looking. Was it OEM?



2002 Triumph Bonneville America, black and silver with limited factory option flag paint, 24k miles, excellent shape, bags, backrest, tach, $4000.

but I thought they did not offer that till 2003???

I missed one that was on Ebay...black/silver with british flags. It went for $299. Nobody bid on it so I contacted the seller and he informed me after a couple of days that he had sold it to someone local.

The flags really add a touch of class to the bike

Nope.. that was an option right off the bat in 02. Clever marketing eh?

I think they were available from '02 - '04 along with a couple other "custom" options.

The paint kits come with a new tank and front fender. They have silver rather than gold pinstripe and there are three general types. Some have checkered flags (I had this on a previous '03), ghost flames or the stylized country flags. I have the Goodwood Green kit for my '05, which has the more normal two Union Jack flags. But I have what I think is a 'one off' on my Caspian Blue, that has one Union Jack/one Stars and Stripes.



The kits often come up on Ebay but often the sellers split them and try and sell the two separately

I always thought your Caspian Blue tank flag option pictured above with both the Union Jack and Old Glory was the best of the lot, Martin.

(...I mean these babies ARE British motorcycles done in a decidedly American flavor, aren't they?!)

The original owner of my '02 America bought the red and silver kit with the Union Jacks when it was purchased new 3/30/03. I'm glad he laid out the $$$ for the kit, chrome and other options, 'cause I like 'em and I'm way too tight with money. He needed to sell quickly and took a thrashing on the price. If I could have spent his money, the Stars and Stripes/Union Jack kit would have been my choice also. Did the fender have both flags??
