This fad with mounting retro tires on custom bikes. Well, I'm not getting it. Would look more appropriate with some nice modern Avon s or even Dunlops. Those retro rubber donuts would be right at home on a '53 Hadley Abelson, not on a Cafe.IMO

There are no rules. It's custom. Either you like it or you don't (either choice is fine).

There's a FEW Rocket Scientists on TCU and in THBC that are using REAL vintage tires on their custom, rat bike/ death trap creations!

Cool lookin' Cafe Racer, alright. However, yeah, I agree with Ryk about the tires. That baby is meant to be leaned over, and those old school tires(Continentals, I think) aren't anywhere as grippy on the edges as even the old school Dunlop K70s were and are. Yep, like Ryk, I say those are best left to H-D old school choppers...machines not meant to be leaned over all that much.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Hey let's not leave out the solid wheels...this baby needs spokes, too. Like you, I'm pretty much over the retro Firestone look, even on cool new bobbers. This bike is just screaming for tall 19 or 20 inch spoked wheels with narrow tires fore and aft.

Ditto on the tires and wheels. Very nice find, cool bike. But, my question to those who have better eyes than I, where is the oil tank? That not being a stock 76 T140V "oil in frame" frame. Maybe the custom frame is OIF but with a lot less capacity. Thoughts?

If you follow the Cyril Huze link you'll see a left side picture that shows an oil fitting at the rear of the tank. Not enough resolution for me to tell if it is to the tank or the frame but it makes for a neat package.

That, and a black seat instead of brown.
