That is a subject that freaks out most Canadians and I suspect Brits, Aussies, Kiwis and other sane folk in other words a big portion of the people watching this web site. What the "F" do you need one of those things for, shooting pigeons?

Don't take this the wrong way, but why not?
I grew up in a household full of firearms (dad was lifer military) and I have several guns myself. I just don't get people against guns. Here in The US a LOT of us take our second amendment right to arm bears very seriously. See, I can even joke about it. Not dissing your values or beliefs, but that is a sacred right in my opinion. Many people gave their all for this right, and this is the most important right we crazed American rednecks relish. As the saying goes, "The second amendment is there to preserve the first."

As I recall, didn't the Brits try to take them once? Lexington & Concord come to mind.

There was a time, not that terribly long ago, when many English gentlemen went about armed. I'm guessing that a lot of Englishmen would have liked to have had recourse to arms several months ago.

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
