I personally don't choose to carry a firearm but here's a tidbit I always share. After running over 5000 EMS calls, including quite a few gunshot wounds, I never encountered nor heard of anyone else encountering, a victim who was shot by a homeowner defending themselves.
Lots of other scenarios, though.
