What do you think about adding knee pads to a Jet Black America either for looks or practicality. Do you like them for either? Or hate them for either? I'd appreciate your experience and/or opinions.

i like them, i have them on my speedy and i think helps tie the bike back to the bonnie days a little bit. a retro look sort of. Also they do have function, i have seen allot of speedys with the paint scratched up allot on the side of the tank from jeans and stuff, depend how long your legs are, but i like the look.

Depends on if your bike is a 2007 or older. If so, then yes, they look great.

I like them. I have them on a neon blue/black speedmaster tank I'm not currently using.

I LOVE IT when my Ol' Lady puts the knee pads on! But, she doesn't own an America.

Me too. I required it before I even took my bike out of dealership.

Good looking bike Are these the pads I see on eBay from a seller in the UK? Is it just me or could the leading edge of the pads be just a little more curved to better match the curve of the America/Speedy tank side? Perhaps they were shaped for a taller tank model? Yeah, I know - too anal for my own good.
Still a good look, though, and I think I may have to add some to my 04 America. Wonder why Triumph didn't include them in the first place?

So they could make money selling them as an accessory.

I don't think either one of those guys carries knee pads.

Eddy can get them from Britich customs then, or go direct, just eddy shipping fee's are usually better.

I just added them to my 02 TBA, and, as far as I'm concerned, it took something that looked unfinished and made it look finished. I'm going for a pseudo-retro look anyway - so that helps - but I love them.
...you're gonna feel a little pressure....

OK, after a couple of Jack Daniels to soothe a broken tooth, I just bought a pair of knee pads from the Dave Death Motorcycles (IW) Ltd listing on eBay - $32.54 USD total per the PayPal confirmation eBay sent.
I also have a guy who is bringing me a pair of Willie & Max Deluxe Series Compact Slant Saddlebags on the 24th that He had on craigslist, the ones with the little silver conchos on the flap, for $60 delivered and they look like new in his photos.
I love it when a plan comes together, but it may be the Jack Daniels talking. I pity the fool.....

The addiction began when I first sat on the 04 and then continued with a new center stand, CD manual, Headlight modulator, PIAA Super Plasma GT-X headlamp bulbs, Speedy Tachometer, and a Triumph banner for the front of my bike shed (still on the way, but it even has the 2004 style logo to match the bikes')
I hope I'll be sated for awhile when It has the knee pads and bags, but I feel like the guy who said his greatest fear of dying was that his wife would sell his gun collection for what he told her he paid for them.

Wait a minute now, John! I'm pretty sure the Rocket 3's come STOCK with "knee pads"?!!!
(...well, a big CHROME "knee pad" on the left side anyway, RIGHT?!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
