I was just passing on what MSNBC said. They really aren't very reliable are they? Well unless you believe in unicorns.

When I was too little to have money, I think I was influential in the family getting Bill Haley's Rock around the clock (I liked the picture of a bloke standing on a double bass while playing it)

The first I got with my own money was Rainbow's Down to Earth

I've still got them both, and Bill is played more often than Ritchie

'In A Gadda Da Vida', baby...Iron Butterfly.

Ended up with like 500 LPs through the '70's and '80's before dumping them in favor of CDs. A couple of years ago I was rooting around in my folks' basement and under a beach towel found my old turntable, purchased in '77. Probably been there 25 years. It was rather high-end at the time, a Dual 704 semi-auto direct drive. Looked a little further and found some old albums that belonged to a long gone uncle of mine - some Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Patsy Cline, etc. Well the turntable looked like brand new so I just had to see if it still worked. Took it home and hooked it up to my garage amp and tuner (also circa '77), and *Shazaam* ....it worked like I'd just used it yesterday. One thing led to another and now I've got the system in the basement and have started to build a small collection of vinyl. Turned both my daughters (now 18 and 14) onto a bit of my past (Wow! That sounds so much better than my iPod!) and they too are getting into it. Too much fun.

I kept all my vinyl. Still looking for a good turntable. I Dont want one of the cheap usb turntables. It's hard to find a good one unless going to a DJ supply house. We had one of the "old time" looking record players that had the CD/ Cassette/ and cheap a$$ TT. Kids broke the TT and now its in my garage so I can listen to my tapes. (about 40 or so of them around).

I am happy to hear you are having fun with your kids with it. Your right, vinyl DOES sound better,. I remember how they were saying "CD'S wont scratch and skip like vinyl" Yep how long did that lie last?

I still have a really good Technics turntable that came with my system but haven't used it in years. Needs a new needle and table pad.

I didn't start collecting any serious vinyl till the early 70s, but before that I had a few. either chicago transit authority, the beatles white album, or pink floyd ummagumma was the first; not sure which. There was a whole lotta great live music back then, mostly free or real cheap.

Well, back then I might have said, "I'd turn 'round and walk out on you." Nowadays I'd say... "get a vocal processor with pitch correction!"

Btw... great album!

Imagine a five year old walking around the house singing that entire album from memory...I must of played it for a year straight! I think it might of caused damage to other family members as there are not too many Beatles fan left...except for me of course

I just picked through A-C tonight. The only Byrds CD in stock was a "best of" so I left it for another time.
