The gains aren't in HP or Tq. By upgrading the ignition system you'll get better burn of a/f. This will result in a smoother idle (assuming your carbs are balanced also) and you may find that your revs come up smoother. Its not as noticeable on our bikes and not as big a benefit till you reach the limits of the current ignition system. There are lots of opinions on both sides of the fence. Im on the side of "yes, theres a benefit". It'll be up to you to find out if its worth the $$.
Back when I was much younger and used to race my CRX at the local strip I found an ignition upgrade (plugs, wires, coils) was good for about 1000 rpm and really helped burn the avgas I was running.
On the bike I found easier starting and a smoother idle.
