Don't worry about a/c age.
Use a commercial operation if you're just wanting to ride.
Go to a club if you want a more laid back environment.
Either way, plan on taking a few rides, and pay the extra for a high tow. Bring a small camera, hat, sunglasses.
The premium soaring is in the western U.S. Great soaring is also available in states along the application mountains. Good soaring can be found in the central U.S.
Remember, soaring is all about the weather!
