If it wasn't for eating, drinking and sex, stopping smoking would be easy. I quit about ten years ago using the nicotine gum as a crutch. The pamplet included with the gum helped as well. One point that made sense was that you need to change your personal rituals that you associate with a smoke. They suggested that if you liked a smoke after meals, as soon as you finish, get up and get busy with something, don't sit there and let your cravings take control. Same applies for sex. Drinking alcohol always required smoking, but I quit that a few years before I tackled cigarettes. Fight your battles one at a time. Hang in there and keep at it.
