Dealers are franchisees and the manufacturer, or their representative, are franchisors. Entirely too many decisions that greatly affect dealers are made by people who have never been dealers and who are not personally affected by those decisions. Requirements for remodels, fees, equipment etc than can take the profit out of a business even if they sell a lot of product. The vast majority of times these requirements are only necessary to meet some company bureaucrats template and do nothing to increase the dealers sales, profit or service level but are very expensive and can cause a going concern to go belly up.


We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
