My dealer hardly ever takes bikes in on trade, but will gladly put your bike up for sale on consignment. It works out great for the seller. They don't have to advertise, worry about being at home to show it and have and will get a better chance of selling it at a motorcycle shop that on their own. It's good for the shop too since they don't have to do much but sell the bike and will get a commission of the sale.

Bikes on consignment don't detract from new bike sales. Actually, a lot of the time it's the other way around, having the used bikes will sometimes lead to a sale of a new bike.
