I think the combination of rivco risers and the new grips was just too much for my stock cables. I tried various handlebar positions along with adjusting the cables at the lower end, and couldn't get the problem to go away. I eventually routed the cables down the right side. That seems to have solved the problem. I have free throttle movement no matter which direction I turn the bars. With the engine running, the idle speed remains constant regardless of handlebar position, so I think I am good. If I hadn't just bought new stock throttle cables, I probably would have bought longer ones, and kept the routing as usual. But I haven't even ridden 100 miles with these yet. So I'll hope this continues to work out.
