No, but I/ve heard of putting Speedie/America headlights on a R-3 classic and Storm.

I'm running them on one of my Speedy s, you will find that the OEM headlight bucket is a junction box for a lot of wires, have a plan as to where are all going to go, is my advice. [image] [/image]

I like that style of lights (for Bollox) better than the little half-a-pop-can style lights, but I will make my own mounting bracket so I can adjust the placement a little.
EDIT: Interesting. Looking at the link I didn't realize the Thunderbike headlights were for sale again. Way too pricey. Those headlights are only about $50 apiece. The brackets are not worth $400. Not a chance.

The mounting solution worked out easier for me with this type: http://aztec8.com/catalog/i35.html easy enough to align, and they illuminate better than the original single lamp.

Yup - Easy enough to do. Keep on meaning to get mine powdercoated but have been too lazy. I think there's a rough draft of the bracket I made for mine here also. It's a little out (i use washers) but it's a straight bolt on and replace once you've got it right.

I started to look into this more seriously today. Now that I'm paying a bit more attention I really prefer the systems that mount the headlights from behind and below, with a bracket coming up from the fork brace. The ones that mount from the sides of the fork just aren't quite as much to my liking. JesterMinute's rig looks right to me, although I'm not really capable of building my own bracket. The rig from the place in Australia that was linked also looks pretty good.
However, I noticed that the Thunderbird Storm has the right basic setup and it looks like it probably mounts about the same as my existing Speedie headlight. So, other than the likely high cost, that seems like a pretty workable solution. Except that they only seem to do the headlights powdercoated, and I would prefer them chromed. But if I could find aftermarket chromed lights that fit that bracket I would have the right configuration (and likely at a decent price).

-Apologies for the delay in replying, life and work getting in the way! - Modified design to solve the wobbling Original Design Bare in mind that the the gap between the two struts that connect to the origional mounting are a couple of mm out. I used washers to fill the gap (but if i was doing it right I'd measure twice before cutting ) Lights The lights were 5 1/4 Bates style headlamp shells (with no light in). You can get these for varying prices or from a breakers. The lights themselves were Cibie Headlights which were combined with some kick ass bulbs to give me BRIGHT light (not the dull yellow/white of my old lights) The lights click together nicely, click in with the bracket nicely and then all you need is your writing. I looked at doing it myself but i'm both lazy and busy so i found this Guy who makes relays and he shipped a cable across to me. from that point i just wired it to my battery, plugged it into the existing light socket thing and it was all good. It's a lazy solution but it's quick and I didn't have to re-wire anything - just bolt off and bolt on. Hope that helps! Ant

So what did you do with all the excess wiring and plugs that are normally enclosed within the stock headlight bucket? Short of bobbing the wires shorter and losing the option of easily going back to stock, I crammed them all in a fugly junction box. I would love to see an alternative solution. Got one?
