You can tour on anything. I tour on my TBA. The air craft carriers are just better for it.
You can probably still do it but I don't see anybody ordering a new car in Arizona telling them to take the radio and AC out of the car.
Big baggers sell, people want them. If the creature comforts didn't sell they surely would not put them on the bikes.
No argument from me about any of that. Perhaps it's me but in my mind if a bike gets over 700-750lbs (wet) it has gone beyond being a motorcycle (that's motor "cycle").
I guess it could also be a European thing (other than the odd exception)... we don't feel we need 900-plus lbs behemoths or the trend never "caught on".
