My parents were born and bred in Indy before movin' out to L.A. right after Pop got his "Ruptured Duck" pin from his service in WWII. And so, as a kid back in the '50s and '60s our family drove back there to visit the family livin' there a few times.

I remember being very unimpressed with the place back then, however I've heard they've done some very nice things to the town since that time, and one will occasionally read in those kinds of "10 Best Places to Live" articles on the net or in magazines that Indy is now often mentioned in 'em.

One thing I liked about Indy was the IUPUI Campus. My stepdad had to go to the hospital there several times for heart issues, and the whole campus is connected by underground service tunnels. Now, that might sound odd, but if you grew up in the midwest, you know what the wind can be like in places like Indy in the winter. It either blows or sucks! The tunnels are heated by the steam pipes and they are open to students and the public, so you can cross the entire camups in warmth. After going to WIU in Macomb, IL, where we had to cross a 15 acre parking lot to the campus from the dorms, and the wind was always blowing, this was a much appreciated feature by me!
