Ummm...no Charlie. You don't need to run for office, you just need to make a whole heck of a lot more money, that's all! THEN ya see, you can convince those folks already in office((with, of course, "a little" contribution to their re-election fund) that you're already sendin' 'em way too much and can barely keep your head above water as it is, and because so many other people depend on you to create jobs for 'em, you should be paying far less percentage-wise that those folks you're creatin' jobs for!

(...uh huh...all ya gotta do is make a heck of a lot more money, preferably at least 5 or 6 Mil a year, and then just play the game as it presently stands, THAT'S all!!!...and yep, I know, I'm right again, huh...don't cha just HATE that?!)

Nah, I wasn't laughin' at you, Charlie. I was REALLY more laughing at the situation we presently have in this country regarding all the loopholes in the tax system.

Why, Playboy Magazine of course, Dave!

(...but I believe that bunny figure included all the bunnies either formerly or presently residing at Hef's mansion in La La Land TOO, and so we're not talkin' about just those little cuddly bunnies like the one you supplied a picture of earlier here...and so, I hope this at least clears THIS issue up in this crazy ol' thread here, anyway!!!)

There are audits and then there are AUDITS. There are full blown audits targeting individuals or business. Then there are audits of specific types of businesses, for example in the past they went after real estate sales people, office in homes, construction etc. Lastly there is the return that gets computer flagged because some entry on the return is outside predetermined parameters, high employment expenses or mileage. The first is what I consider a true audit, it's expensive, you bring every thing, I prefer their office. The second two can be done with a phone and fax machine.I tell my clients to keep their mouths shut unless I ask the question, oh! and bring their checkbook.

Here's a link to the historic tax rates including inflationary adjustments. <http://www.taxfoundation.org/taxdata/show/151.html>
Take a look at the upper income rates under Eisenhower. Know what rich people did when their tax rates were really high? They re-invested their money back into their business, which created jobs. Historically, whenever tax rates are cut on the upper income they take profits instead of investing the money back in their businesses. This is common knowledge and anyone who has taken econ 101 knows this but that is not what is said by some running for office.

Super Bowl week is hilarious. It was like Antarctica in Dallas last year and after bemoaning a midwestern SB for months I heard an ESPN host refer to Indy as being "like Maui".

Yep, 'cept I don't think Duke Kahanamoku ever surfed down the White River and past the Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument there.

I'd never walked downtown Indy until a couple years ago. It's actually pretty cool. They've put sidewalks along the old canals and they are below street level so it's like you're walking through a park, you can't hear the traffic although it's just above you, until you walk up a flight of stairs and find yourself in the middle of downtown. Pretty neat and quite different.

My parents were born and bred in Indy before movin' out to L.A. right after Pop got his "Ruptured Duck" pin from his service in WWII. And so, as a kid back in the '50s and '60s our family drove back there to visit the family livin' there a few times.

I remember being very unimpressed with the place back then, however I've heard they've done some very nice things to the town since that time, and one will occasionally read in those kinds of "10 Best Places to Live" articles on the net or in magazines that Indy is now often mentioned in 'em.

Oh, there's no question Indy has gone through its own Renaissance. I don't know what the canals used to be like (Indy's nickname is the crossroads. There are about 6 Interstates that run through it but, previously, there were canals) but they are now lovely water features that run throughout downtown. They are below street level with sidewalks along them. You can walk all throughout downtown with a feeling of being in a park with no traffic noise but every block, or so, you just walk up a flight of stairs and you are in the middle of downtown. Lucas Oil Stadium is within a block, or so, of the canals. They have a Triple A stadium that is unbelievable and situated between Lucas Stadium and NCAA Headquarters. A natatorium and velodrome nearby. Conseco Fieldhouse is within a couple blocks. Indy may be the only city on Earth that could put on the Olympics without building anything.
I'm guessing that's why the NCAA relocated there.

One thing I liked about Indy was the IUPUI Campus. My stepdad had to go to the hospital there several times for heart issues, and the whole campus is connected by underground service tunnels. Now, that might sound odd, but if you grew up in the midwest, you know what the wind can be like in places like Indy in the winter. It either blows or sucks! The tunnels are heated by the steam pipes and they are open to students and the public, so you can cross the entire camups in warmth. After going to WIU in Macomb, IL, where we had to cross a 15 acre parking lot to the campus from the dorms, and the wind was always blowing, this was a much appreciated feature by me!

I were just going by what the lady who prepared my taxes said. It could be just her firm who knows. She said the IRS rep told them 1 outta 4. Yup that be 25%, and with the huge increase in the number of agents this year I know they are out to do something.

25% seems high, but you are right about the increase hiring at the IRS. Just a heads up for you filers.

Hey guys, besides my earlier suggestion that Congress should make placing pancakes on the heads of bunnies illegal, I've just thought of ANOTHER thing those folks sittin' on their keesters there in Washington D.C. ought'a get right on before they tackle the subject of our tax codes.

And THAT would be that they ALSO make it illegal(with a fine of 50 percent of whatever a singer makes in a year) for any singer to throw in more than two short shots of that coloratura crap while singing our national anthem before any sporting events. AND, maybe make it a fine of 75% of their yearly income IF they succumb to the temptation to do that crap before the freakin' Super Bowl!!!

(...'cause I don't know about YOU, but I'm pretty darn tired of watchin' and hearin' these people tryin' to "impress us" with their vocal range before I settle back to watch a game...yep, JUST sing the freakin' SONG, you freakin' DIVAS!!!)

Why, THANK you Ryk!

And NOW all we gotta do is get a senator and a congressman to introduce a bill like this into their respective Houses.

(...of course, knowing how those folks there can't seem to even agree on what shade of blue the sky is anymore, my hopes of somethin' like this passing in EITHER House isn't exactly, well, "sky high" at the moment!)

Funny you mention that, Bill. Word is there's a certain gentlemen who resides in British Columbia who once "doobie-dooed" the Canadian National Anthem!

Uh huh. I hear it went somethin' like...

"O Canada,
Our home and umm...and umm...
Duuuuude, it's a really cool place to live, eh!"

(...of course, this is ALL just second hand smok...err, information, so don't quote me on this)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
