dwight, what i'm able to cipher through all your EMPHASIS is "no" and 'bush sucks' and 'republicans aren't any good at/for xyz'. that has lost you the house, the senate, and the whitehouse - twice. it must really burn the arse of the anybody but bush crowd that my president, the 'stoopitest man in american politics', the 'smirky chimpface' won twice. first against half of the most adored administration in history, which included the first 'black president', during peacetime, with (at the time) the strongest economy america ever had (despite it being fake and based on the unrealistic dot com dream) and the second time against a real american war hero. if you really care you might want to reconsider the method to your message, and focus on why i, a republican voter since reagan in 1980, would want to vote for anyone other than another republican. in other words, yours and your continual insulting of mine and my choice will get you nothing more than more defeat. come to the table with an alternative. people might listen. but if they don't it doesn't make them wrong or any less an american than you.

He broke the code. Yup. He is and was a liar and a traitor to our way of life. When he is dead and gone he will be a mere negligible footnote on one page of some history book. His real history will no doubt be written and read only in the socialist republic of california and Massachusetts. keery is the type only a mother could love and in his case I am sure his mother has doubts.

Jeff, Pres. Bush's approval ratings were at 29% last I checked. A lot of people must be wising up. I'm sure next election the Republicans will pull out the lies and falsified attack ads again in order to avoid discussing any issues. Hey, why not? It worked on Kevin.

Yep! Kevin! I AM angry that that "Chimp", as you called him, is still the President of this Land.
It didn't SURPRISE me, of course! BECAUSE as you can see from my posts on this thread, I hold little regard for the INTELLIGENCE of the AMERICAN PUBLIC!(those, as I said, who ACTUALLY got off their LAZY, stupid a$$es TO vote, that is...I hold those who don't in even lower regard)
OHHH....AND I wouldn't be surprised(well...MAYBE I WOULD) if you even figured out that I'M one o' them there "ELITIST S.O.B.s" TOO!!!
And...that's ALSO JUST as I figured you'd say about "The Code", TOO!
Humm...brings to mind an old saying........
"PATRIOTISM IS THE LAST REFUGE OF A SCOUNDREL". (don't worry though...I'll always think of you as more of a "ROUGE")
NOW....go have Derek help you with your new exhausts!
You're dismissed!

Wow...I leave for a few hours to see "the Worlds Fastest Indian" (Great Fu(in Movie by the way, not fast paced and action packed but great) and you guys are still at it! But I see the tone has changed...more "propaganda-ish" you see Bill...this is why I said what I did about religion and politics in that other thread...to many lines in the sand...although I must say I haven't seen any personal attacks....yet!...Although there was that one comment about Mike Moore...now there's something I could get behind....Dwight I got to back you on your Kerry comment (and I personally hate the guy) But he did put the uniform on and fight for our right to call him a coward! and THAT I can never find fault in...regardless of whatever his "reasons" may have been! I have a good friend who was at Iwo Jima and Bill I've seen that before nice piece...and yes it's true! My brother-in-law Is Army Ranger and has been deployed and returned and is being deployed again! Have other friends who also served/are serving and all the stories that the Media prints/broadcasts/"reports" are just what sells time and NOTHING like those that have been relayed to me! And I might add that most of them are PISSED OFF at the media coverage!!! But where each media outlet has there own adgenda (political or otherwise) you are bound to get only what they think is worthy...don't belive everything you read or see it's most always motivated by something other than disemminating the truth the the adverage Joe American...I wasn't in Nam...didn't serve with or under Kerry,... wasn't there!!! so what happened???who knows the stories have been played over and over in the press with each side claiming to speak the truth...all to convince us of one opinion or another...the fact I DO know Is he served his country in a time of war, and saw active combat...that make him a hero in my book...one I can't stand...but nontheless a hero!

Hmmm....it worked on me eh? I am from middle America...otherwise known as the "right" part of America. Where men are men and families and honor are still a reason for being and a desired respect for same that comes with growing up there. We were not, then, impressed with any of the crowd of quasi-wannabe Americans put out there by the (spit) democraps in 2004.
It would seem the only one worth salt was Lieberman but the party did not have the good sense to run him.
Even now they refuse to learn from the error of their ways. Insulting hard working Americans who go to church and send their sons and daughters off to war without whining about it. Calling for this great country to tuck tail and run from a mere bunch of islamo fascist scumsucking, middle eastern ,terrorist, dimbulbs looking for untainted virgins?
Please. Cry your tears where someone will listen.
Put up a few real men or women with real values and a sense of justice and reality and no one will need to worry. Unfortunately the party of Franklin Roosevelt has been hijacked by .....the bad guys.
There wasa a time when both parties could be recognized as "American" entities. There is only one now. It starts with an "R"
When the "American Communist Party" officially endorses only Democratic candidates then something is very telling.
When Democrat politicians call our soldiers murderers and baby killers ....something is wrong in Vacaville my friends.
When major media personalities belittle our Soldiers , Sailors, Airmen and Marines and play up every minor infraction or incident that occurs in Iraq that is not positive and refuses to tell the real story of the good we are doing there and then something is stinking in Sacramento my friends.
When every idiot Hollywood celebrity who values himself or herself as a foreign policy expert and goes to foreign countries and disses our way of life and our values ...then something is wrong in tinseltown and Burbank.
When the major outlets for the platform of the Democrats is the "Daily Show" or the "Colbert Report" then you have a problem. It takes more than comedic relief to win. You have to win the South and Middle America. The breadbasket counts my friends. gore and skeery both found that out.
All the celebrities and entertainers and rock stars in the country could not dissuade middle America from choosing the right man for the job at the right time in history.
Michael Moore made a BS documentary and made lots of money and went to colleges to stir up the vote and still ....not effective in the jist of things. P- diddy tried to get out the vote. Want enough was it?
Who you gonna put up against McCain? Hillary? hee hhee bring her on. Recent polls in New York showed her getting her panties handed to her in a one on one with McCain.
"Faith of Our Fathers" It has a nice ring to it and I think it will work.
And if not the senator from Arizona then I'd gladly hang my hat on any of the other front runners in my party. I gotta know the Demos will run another "winner"
It would not suprise me to see them nominate Al Sharpton or Micheal Moore.
LOL.

If you are in any service with the cushiest duty imaginable, you are a hero in my book. As a veteran, I know the cushy duty doesn't last longer than a year.
To clarify, if you are in any service and are standing guard for our country while me and my family sleep in peace at night, YOU ARE A HERO.
If you are a patient at any Veterans hospital or a resident at any Veterans home, YOU ARE A HERO.
If you are a parent or a grandma or grandpa with a loved one on active duty anywhere in the world, your loved one IS A HERO. If you are doing anything to protect honest citizens of the United States while us citizens sleep in peace at night, YOU ARE A HERO.
If you come on this board or anytime you open your mouth and degrade or hero's, YOU ARE SCUM. I will gladly finance a free one way plane ticket anywhere in the world to anyone here or anywhere who degrades or second guesses our hero's.
I am still waiting for a call from Hillary, Ted, Nancy, and Chuckie.

I agree with some of your points and disagree with others...but then thats why there called opinions...It is unlikely that I will change yours or you mine...
but as a quick point (yeah right like thats gonna happen) Many of these KIDS didn't sign up for that job...they signed up for an education and saw the military as their only shot...and ignored the obvious JOB of the military...or went with the age old KID thought..."it won't happen to me"
as far as the "swinging dick" part I got a cousin who might take offence to that as SHE is san's that particular piece of genitalia and served for many years...
Political Correctness...HA that is the BANE of this country in my book! Many of those HEROS died so that don't HAVE to be Politicaly correct!
As far as glamorizing...well I can't think of a single thing about the military that would strike me a glamorous...but I know where your going!
You're right again when you say they "ain't all heros" (gramaticly incorrect but the content is there) but MANY are, and MANY more than get the little ribbon to prove it...and MANY of those who "serve" there country will NEVER get the chance for the ribbon/medal/award...yet they quietly serve there country here at home holding down two (or more) jobs, to pay the bills, because Mom or Dad isn't home and hasn't been for two years...and there "JOB" pays sooo welll that they have no problem sending all the WADS of cash back home so Mom/Dad can pay the rent.
So are they all Heros....nope but a Damm sight more of them are then we'll ever know...because it does'nt make good TV and quit frankly these people are making sacrafices every day! that I can't or won't (I'ld last all of 10 seconds in the military, then some one who I thought was a schmuck but who outraked me would tell me to do something ...and I'ld tell him/her to get stuffed...then would come the pushing and the shoving and it would end with me behind bars)

Rob,
Some excellent ponts there, bub! I'm in my broad-stroke mode, I guess.
But I AM thinking of taking up Mad's offer and using that airline ticket of his, but ONLY for a short trip to see a little more of the world than I already have.
You see...I figure, maybe, JUST MAYBE, when I return to the place I'm PROUD to call HOME HERE, AND in the interim, some of my fellow American's jingoistic eyes could possiblly have opened up, they might have gotten their heads screwed on straight, and SEE the world the way it REALLY IS, without those star-spangled blinders on that they are SO proud to sport.
NAAAAAAAW! Never happen!
Cheers, Dwight

Now there's a telling statement. Doesn't it strike anyone as a little wrong that joining the army is seen as a legitimate tactic for getting educated? After all, the cost of the education is bourne by the army, which in turn is funded by the taxpayer (us), and the job of "being in the army" doesn't turn a profit. If education is the name of the game, why not just cut out the middle man.
It just seems shameful to use "education" as a sort of bribe. Oh, and I am fully aware that some folks join the army for the perfectly legitimate reason of wanting to serve their country - for which the should be applauded. My point is that using education as the carrot is a little shoddy.
Siggy
If life wasn't so pointless and absurd, I would take it more seriously.

Educational benefits ....shoddy? BS. These men and women are fulfilling the warrior role in our society whether they like it or not or expected it. All military personnel enlisted or officer are "cannon fodder" when the need demands it.
The military is NOT a for profit organization. Its primary purpose and make no mistake about this is...WAR and killing people.
They protect us and risk their necks in far away lands where the natives do not Habla Engleis and they do it for many reasons not the least of which for many is a true sense of duty and tradition.
Using taxpayer dollars to subsidize education for young men and women who are serving in our defense is a small gesture. The economic glory days of the US in the fifties and early sixties was assisted greatly by large numbers of WW2 and Korean veterans makning use of the then GI bill and entering society in all of the various professions.
Reenlistment bonuses are also carrots to entice people to continue to serve a full career. I would never deny them those bonuses.
Absence from family and the inconvenience of being potential cannot fodder aside the military is the reason for our state of freedom and continued existence as a free country.
We should all learn to respect them and there sacrifices istead of whining like children derived of recess.
Many consider it an honor to serve as their fathers did before them. It was an honor for me. I had no doubts of what might be expected of me and that was driven home on many occasions.
I have always been proud of my father and his service in WW2. Given the chance I would serve again even being over fifty if I could help in any way.
I, for one believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that freedom has a sweeter taste to all of those men and women who have had the honor and oppurtunity to serve. .
They are special and they are a cut above. Think about that the next time to you go to your nine to five job. You do not have to worry about someone calling you at 3:00 AM in the morning to tell you that you will be on a plane to Bum screwed Egypt in the next two hours and to get your sorry butt on base.
I am sorry I just hate to hear our guys and gals maligned.
To assign a term of bribery to educational benefits for warriors is shameful.
Kerry's actions in Vietnam, including his officer efficiency reports. I have discussed those documents with a number of other former and current officers familiar with the combat action reporting system and efficiency reporting system in Vietnam at the time. I am convinced beyond any reasonable doubt that Kerry is a liar and a coward. His purple hearts are phony and the so-called official navy record of his principle action was clearly written by Kerry when he managed to place himself in a postion to do so, because the officer who should have written the after action report was engaged elsewhere. That report is a fraud.
Whitzoo, I don't think you have talked to anyone that was on his boats just those that were there or maybe even not there with an opinion. I will take Kerry's war record any day over Bush, Cheyney, Rice, and Rumsfeld. And I am a Republican, or was a Republican. A man who opposes the war and goes anyway because that is what his duty is, is far superior to a little ****** ant rich ****** whose daddy got him out of it.
The Swift Boat Hacks and the administration tried very hard to change the story and the record. They failed! They should hang their heads in shame! They are so totally out of line they are IMHO anti-american in what they tried to pull off. Where was this story 25 years ago when he first ran or any 4 year period thereafter? Why did the Texas Swift Boat hacks not bring forward Kerry's own boatmates??? (think) Kerry had to be discredited to even the playing field for the coward he was running against. If you can't beat them, drag them down to your level. Kerry remained relatively silent in all that mess. Thats what heroes do.
The Swift Boat Liars and Iraq have made me an Independent for the rest of my life. The Swift Boat conspiracy crew should be taken out of their homes in public view and shot as traitors.
(Think on this line!) Highly decorated veterans say medals were given away for nothing. His medals mean nothing. (Now think hard about what is wrong with that line)

I've always beieved that politicians should be held to the same standards that judges are in our legal system (which are elected officials as well). That would change the political landscape in a BIG way!

Hmmmm. Established fact. CBS (See B.S) Dan Slather and company lied and distorted facts late in the 04 election that were immediately proven to be fabrications by able and intelligent "bloggers"
This cannot be said of the facts brought forth by the Swift boat veterans for truth.
They caught another Massachusetts dandy with his pants down and his pecker exposed and he could not answer the charges nor dispute them ..nor did he even attempt to.
when as many men came forward and formed a strong coalition to ensure that a man they knew to be a falsehood and should not assume the office of commmaner in chief due to his proven unfitness for command then some degree of strong accuracy was there. I read the book and I have seen the pictures of his nibs hanging in the hanoi hall of fame...so I gotta say there is indeed a great deal of truth to the Swift boat veterans.
If anything Kerry is one loser who will go to his grave wishing he had never gone on TV in the seventies and assigned the title of murdering babykillers to his comrades in arms. I guess he got in backwards.
If you want to be a hero and use that as a bully pulpit to persuade intelligent voters than one might be disposed to act like a hero and not disavow the service and sacrifce of ones fellows. I never heard of JFK saying a single hostile word about his service. Dwight Eisenhower went to the office of commander in chief based on able military leadership. Nothing wrong with it as long as it is TRUE.
George Dubya did not ever run as a military hero ....never tried to and never would. For him to do so would have been silly. He like many other moneyed priviledged perhaps skirted ably the war in Vietnam but then again this was commont amongst all moneyed elite at the time. He has not nor ever attempted to assume any glorious war service.
Its all just sour grapes. G. Dubya won it twice fair and square.
His popularity amongst that most priviledged group the US military is still strong even now as the anti-christ liberals and elitist media do their able best to destroy the country from within
Being upright and honest as to ones motives for defending the country is all I ask and he has done all that.
History will be written to this in the years to come I assure you of that.

And just how would this distinguish him from anybody else who skirted the war in Viet Nam by whatever means they had available to them? Ae, leaving the country.

Nothing ...other than the fact that the attempt by the left wingers to use this negatively to their advantage by swinging votes failed miserably because no one cared and because the attempt was so poor and immediately countered and proven to be a lie (CBS otherwise known as See-bull ****) The attempts to find skeletons in the closet of George Dubya were weak willed and inadequate from the beginning. Largely beacuse all the skeletons had already been hashed and rehashed and were insignificant when the hate mongers of the left thought to use them. In truth no one cares whether GD was doing easy duty in the Air Gaurd. It simply was a non issue. Everyone who cared to pay attention knew that G Dubya made no claims to military glory. Your boy on the other hand made it real clear or at least tried to make it clear that he was some kind of Audie Murphy. The Swift Boat boys made very sure that that particular misnomer was exposed for the lie it was. The Swift boat effort to derail kerry was effective and instrumental. It was never countered. It stuck cause it was true and stood on its recognizance.

I'm reminded of those guys you always see at the airport.. shaved heads and dancing around chanting 'krishna will provide' and then asking you for a joint They are very entertaining and fun to play with for a while. And then you realize what a scarey and distorted sense of reality they struggle to live in on a daily basis. Sad really. Cheers, Brad

Yes, the liberal left in America is often reffered to in terms such as "moonbat" et al....an apt description for the Krishnas of the era you speak of.
Sky high and looking for moon pie.

Yep, concerning Bush's military record, it wasn't bad enough that Dan Rather and Mary Mapes ran with a story they knew to be false, but even after it was proven to be false, they still stood by it. Mary Mapes even said on CNN that it wasn't up to her to prove it was true, but up to someone else to prove it was false. The Democrats (and the left leaning media) seem to think it's their birthright to be in power. Now that they've been soundly rejected at the polls election after election, just listen to the excuses. Why, those DieBold machines are rigged. (Probably owned by Haliburton). The voters are idiots. We are not getting our message out loud enough. Fact is their message is getting out loud and clear. Problem is nobody is buying it. Yet they seem to think there must be another reason for their losses. Why surely the American public can't be rejecting us. After all, we're the ones that know what's best for America. The democrats can't be openly honest and tell Americans what they REALLY stand for, because they know if they do, they'll never win another election. Hey, vote for us. We support abortion on demand, partial birth abortion, (of course we're against the death penalty for such upstanding citizens as Tooke Williams), higher taxes(how 'bout that John Corzine?), wealth redistribution(right out of the Karl Marx handbook), a watered down military, gay marriage, gun control, increased fuel standards for autos(note sure how many MPG Robert F. Kennedy Jr's private jet gets), promoting solar and wind energy(as long as the windmills don't block the view from Hyannisport), Geez, these f*#%ing hypocrites. Years ago the dems could mask these radical positions with the help of their like minded friends in the media, who actually decided what was and wasn't news every evening. Now, with Fox news and talk radio, they have been exposed, and the election results are proving this out. As long as the Democrats have as their spokespersons people like P. Diddy, with that stupid ****** "vote or die" BS, Michael Moore, Babs Striesand(wonder what it cost to heat and cool her mansion?), Howard Dean(please keep him in his current position-Yee Haa), Ted(the swimmer) Kennedy, Jimmy-21% interest rate-Carter, Hanoi Jane Fonda, Harry Reid, Nancy Polosi, Dick Durbin, and of course the pride of West Virginia and the Democratic party, that former Ku Klux Klan member who now prides himself on human rights issues, Robert Byrd, or as he's affectionately known in the senate, Sheets Byrd, they will continue to be soundly rejected at the polls, year after year. It wasn't that many years ago that the Democrats and Republicans were not that far apart on the issues. John F. Kennedy would be considered a conservative by todays' Democratic party. He also put in place a tax cut that stimulated the economy. Problem with the Democratic party today is that it has been taken over by the extreme left. As long as the (new) media keep exposing these extreme positions for what they are, the democrats will never win another national election, because the simple fact is that the MAJORITY of the American public just ain't buying what they're selling. The election results speak for themselves. Have a nice day!

Oh, and I am fully aware that some folks join the army for the perfectly legitimate reason of wanting to serve their country - for which the should be applauded.
I quote myself in case I am being misread or misunderstood. What I am saying is that when people choose to join the military, that choice should be based on their desire to serve their country, with any educational component being a bonus. What I feel is wrong is to promote the notion of a "free education" to folks who are not necessarily considering enlisting to be - and I quote yourself - "cannon fodder."
If the primary motive of the individual is to get further education above and beyond high school, then there should be ways of encouraging this other than the military route. And I am not averse to tax payer money being used for education, just as it is for defense.

They are special and they are a cut above. Think about that the next time to you go to your nine to five job. You do not have to worry about someone calling you at 3:00 AM in the morning to tell you that you will be on a plane to Bum screwed Egypt in the next two hours and to get your sorry butt on base.
All the more reason for people making an informed choice about the career paths they choose. If one is aware that the nature of the job includes 3:00 phone calls to be shipped out to Somewhereistan, then they can at least reflect on that when it happens.
And as a side point, I also get irritaed by folks who always try to make out that job X is superior to job Y. For some, fighting in wars across the globe is a choice they make and I say good on them, because that's not what I - or others - choose to do. However, while they do that, other folks have to make sure the rest of the country carries on, providing the jobs, food, medical care, technology, and all the rest.
My clearly-maligned and useless nine-to-five is rarely nine-to-five, keeps me away from home, and 100s of folks' jobs and livelihoods depend on how well I do in my worthless, crummy job. If the business goes bust, so do their jobs, and there is no government funding for me.
So please, by all means support and wave the flag for those who have chosen a military career, but try to avoid putting them on pedestals and, in doing so, suggesting that everyone else is somehow inferior and living an implied less-worthy existence.
Siggy
If life wasn't so pointless and absurd, I would take it more seriously.

Ya know....I was just going to let this thread die the death it deserves, MAINLY for the reason that many of you here have already expressed...that being that NO MATTER what or HOW each of our opinions ARE expressed, few is any of us are going to change the other's "beliefs".
BUT...after coming back and reading this WHOLE thread yet again, I have noticed that there may be ONE CONSTANT in each of our arguments that I think are very telling as to how some here present POLEMIC opinions, i.e. "the Party Line" and thus contribute to this forgone conclusion as an irrelevant exercise.
If any of you would ALSO re-read this, I think you would see that my earlier "treatise" on my views shows a willingness to look at BOTH SIDES in this debate and cast aspersions upon BOTH Political Parties, my fellow Americans, my fellow world inhabitants AND EVEN MYSELF... BECAUSE if I know ANYTHING, it's that NO ONE is ALWAYS RIGHT, and that WE ALL share in some way the responsibility of why this world IS not the way each of us would care to see it.
BUT, what I've ALSO noticed is that the move "conservative" or "right-of-center" each individual here is the MORE LIKELY to catagorically blame the "other-side" for ALL the ills of society.
This, "It's THEIR fault" or those "wacko Krisna democrats" mentality (and BTW...did I ever associate any of those here with the KKK or "The Aryan Nation" or any other EXTREME right-wing organization? NO!!!), served up WITHOUT a counter-balanced thought presented by the presenter, showing an AWARENESS that in most regards WE ARE ALL culpable to some degree in this REALITY, which I view this circumspection as the ESSENCE of REALITY, is what I lament IS MISSING in many of the arguments presented by the "proud to be a Conservative" continigent, and why I'm proud to say..."I AM NOT A CONSERVATIVE."
As long as people will not see or say that YOUR family, YOUR friend, YOUR co-worker, YOUR vaulted elected official OR YOURSELF is fallable and can or does make mistakes, and not just THEIR family, THEIR friend, THEIR co-worker, THEIR vaulted elected offical and/or THAT OTHER GUY....then a form of "IN-HOUSE POLITICAL CORRECTNESS" is exercised, which I'll BET almost everyone, AND especially once again it seems, our "Proud to be a Conservative" set here has either voiced a negative opinion of in the past OR harbors some resentment of, WINS OUT, AND undermines your presentation.
And if there's one thing I've seen that "PC" ALSO accomplishes is to stifle the free exchange of ideas, and thus ANY ability to reach a solution to the problems facing America and the world.
Cheers, Dwight (in other words...NOT that I'M some kind of freakin' "paragon of open-mindedness"....BUT COME ON HERE.....)
(you HAD to know I'd work that "freakin'" word into this thing eventually, didn't ya?!...I'm such an a$$...HEY!...SEE HOW "CIRCUMSPECT" I AM!)
