I gave myself a fantastic St. Patrick's Day present in 2008 when a went to a Triumph with a wad of cash. I used to have a Bonneville and my problem with it was that at 60 MPH or above it about tore me off the seat and a windshield buffetted me to death.

It was a '79 Bonneville Special and weighed only 395 lbs.

I looked over the Speedmaster that weighed 550 lbs and sat low with my feet flat on floor when stopped. I liked it.

My only problem was that they only had a few on the floor and none of them was a color I liked.

The sales dude took me into the back storage shed and ripped the paper offa on still in the crate from England and showed me the tank. I bought it.

A few days later I rode home with a brand new 2007 Speedmaster.

Fifteen thousand miles later I still love it. I do my own oil changes and such and I only had two problems. Once it started to caugh and stumble and I took it to the dealer. There was some debris in a breather tube and he blew it out. Problem solved. No charge.

2nd problem was when I hit something on the road and it came up and smacked the kickstand switch and the bike would not start. I trailered it to the dealer and again fixed in no time for no charge.

At 12K I had the dealer check the valve clearances. No adjustment needed and cost me only $80.

I replaced the front tire (dried out from the Vegas sun) and a battery.

Other than oil changes that is all I ever spent on it. It goes like the Everready Rabbit and haul my fat butt (255 lbs) everywhere I want to go.

However I do not like the way it handles on dirt roads, so I stay on the hardstuff.
