If you like to talk a bit when you stop for fuel, an "adult" beverage, at a rest area,or (?) you'll be fine. Almost every time I stop someone wants to stop you and talk about Triumph's (used to have one in the 60's, Dad used to have one, are they still making those?, ALL possitive!)
If you change to Kuryokin grips, keep the old throttle in the saddle bag for a spare (experience).
Like Frier said, CDI "may" give you a problem in heavy rain - keep some RTV onboard or coat the top with before hand. Better yet, ride with Frier (or now myself) who "always" has a spare on board.
A good dealer/service dept. is worth their weight in gold. If they'll talk to you about the many good points of the America and throw in some of the very few negative considerations, stay with them. Also, if they have a local RAT (Riders Assoc.of Triumph) group associated with them, that's a good sign.
Finally, if you want a good bike that will carry you for long trips, short hauls in town, with minimum problems and is more fun than is legal, you'd be hard pressed to find something better than an America.
Spend a few(?) hours going through the posts on this forum and you'll learn more about them than you've thought you need to know.
Good luck and enjoy that America.

GO FOR IT!
