OK I'm supposed to be an engineer but no matter how hard I look I can't see a way into the battery box on the speedmaster!
The chrome lip clip goes under the frame and the other end is held by a lug and slot....
Does the molded cover just up and in front of battery box come off with a good pull....I can't see a fastener on that either.

I'm just hoping that there is a trick to this and that I'm not being hard of thinking!

Remove the allen heads that hold the "Cheese Grater" on that side. Underneath you will find another allen head screw that holds the small black plastic cover on. The back of it just pulls out.
Now you will be able to see the screw that holds the top of the battery cover strap on.

It is fairly conveluted itsn't it?

Here's a shot of mine, since I freaked it, I cut away that side protector and now battery access is a snap.
